HPE6-A45 Exam - Question 1

Refer to the exhibit.

A network administrator sets up prioritization for an application that runs between Device 1 and Device 2. However, the QoS for the application is not what the administrator expects.

How can the administrator check if the network infrastructure prioritizes traffic from Device 1 and Device 2?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

To verify if the network infrastructure is prioritizing traffic correctly, the administrator should check the interface queue statistics on the switches involved. By clearing the interface statistics, running the application, and then examining the interface queue statistics for the switch-to-switch links, the administrator can determine if the packets are being prioritized in the appropriate queues. This provides direct evidence of how the traffic is being handled along the entire path between Device 1 and Device 2.

Answer is C. From the course manual... Checking the actual egress queues that the switch is using gives you the best information. You can check this queue on each switch in the path by clearing statistics, running the applications, and then entering the show interface queue <interface port list> command.

Correct answer is C. The question isn't asking to validate the packet marking. It's asking to validate the prioritisation on the devices in-path.

I don't think you'll see the marking on the interface statistic. Furthermore it's better to check on device 2 if the marking is received.

Correct. Answer is A. C will only work if the Hardware TX/RX rings are full and the Software queues kick in, and that only gives you the queue usage, not markings.

While reading the question again I think C is the answer. Because validating the packet or if the packet in the prio queue can be done on the interface queue statistics. With a check on device 2 we can see if the marking is ok but not if it's in the right queue.
