HPE6-A45 Exam - Question 77

Refer to the exhibit.

Both Switch-1 and Switch-2 redistribute RIP routes into OSPF. The network administrator wants routers in Area 1 to receive the redistributed routes from Switch-1 but not from Switch-2.

Routers in other areas should receive the routes from Switch-2.

What should the administrator do to achieve this goal?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

To achieve the goal of having routers in Area 1 receive redistributed routes only from Switch-1 and not from Switch-2, configuring Area 1 as a Not So Stubby Area (NSSA) on all routing devices in Area 1 is appropriate. NSSA allows for the injection of external routes in a more controlled manner, ensuring that external routes are not flooded from other areas into Area 1, which aligns with the requirement.

An OSPF stub area has no external routes in it, so you cannot redistribute from another protocol into a stub area. A not-so-stubby area (NSSA) allows external routes to be flooded within the area. These routes are then leaked into other areas. However, external routes from other areas still do not enter the NSSA.
