HPE6-A45 Exam - Question 64

Refer to the exhibit.

The access layer AOS-Switches currently run DHCP snooping on VLAN 2 and connection rate filtering on edge ports. They are at default settings for ARP protection. A network administrator then enters these commands on each of the access layer switches:

Switch(config)# arp-protect vlan 2 Switch(config)# arp-protect

Which behavior accurse?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

When ARP protection is enabled on a VLAN, the switches monitor ARP traffic and ensure that only valid ARP requests and responses are forwarded. This helps to prevent ARP poisoning attacks. However, ARP protection can sometimes interfere with legitimate communications on the VLAN if there are mismatches or issues in the ARP cache or DHCP bindings. Therefore, the deployment of ARP protection could disrupt normal communication within VLAN 2, making option C the correct answer.

each switch only learns the DHCP bindings for clients connected on its own untrusted ports. Therefore, the switch is only capable of monitoring the ARP traffic for hosts connected on these ports. It must trust the ARP traffic arriving from other parts of the network, or it will find that the traffic has no binding and interfere with legitimate communications.
