GPEN Exam - Question 41

Approximately how many packets are usually required to conduct a successful FMS attack onWEP?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: A

To successfully conduct an FMS attack on WEP, it typically requires around 250,000 packets. This number is generally accepted based on various studies and practical experiences. While some attacks may succeed with fewer packets, a larger number approximately in the hundreds of thousands is more likely to yield success.

I think the correct answer is A. 20,000 packets are too few. According to previous studies, 100,000 packets is the minimum required, but there are cases where 10,000,000 packets are required. The approximate number needed would be in the hundred thousand. reference: https://www.offensive-security.com/wifu/Fragmentation-Attack-in-Practice.pdf https://usuaris.tinet.cat/sag/wep.htm
