Question 21

During a Sprint Planning, a team has picked three User Stories:

✑ Story 1 "" 5 Story Points

✑ Story 2 "" 8 Story Points

✑ Story 3 "" 3 Story Points

At the end of the Sprint, the team has completed Story 1 and Story 3 and the Product Owner accepts these. The team has almost completed Story 2 but there are a few bugs identified in acceptance tests.

What is the Velocity of this team?

    Correct Answer: A

Velocity is calculated based on the number of story points that are fully completed and accepted by the Product Owner during a sprint. Unfinished work, even if it is close to completion, does not count towards the velocity. In this case, the team completed Story 1 (5 points) and Story 3 (3 points) which makes a total of 8 points. Hence, the velocity of the team is 8 points.
