At which of the following OSI model layers would a technician find an IP header?
In the OSI model, the IP header is found at Layer 3, which is the Network layer. This layer is responsible for the routing and addressing of data packets, which includes encapsulating the packets with IP headers for proper delivery across networks.
This should be at the network layer, as IP header are added to the packet at Layer 3
The seven layers of the OSI model are: Physical layer: responsible for transmitting raw data bits over a physical medium such as a cable. Data Link layer: provides error-free transmission of data frames over the physical layer. Network layer: responsible for routing and addressing of data packets. Transport layer: provides reliable end-to-end communication between applications. Session layer: establishes, manages, and terminates communication sessions between applications. Presentation layer: formats and encrypts data for network transmission. Application layer: provides the interface between the application and the network for communication.
I hate the OSI stuff. The osi layers always been just a massive struggle to me, probably just the dyslexia thing usually trying to remember a list is just really hard. Wrote one thing I have noticed is a lot of things that have to do with connection it's usually on layer 3. Kind of like how switches are layer 3 devices. That's how I kind of remember that usually something with the IP address it would be layer 3 on the OSI layer.
Network layer, layer 3. The most significant protocol at layer 3 (also called the network layer) is the Internet Protocol, or IP. IP is the standard for routing packets across interconnected networks--hence, the name internet.
I believe that switches typically operate on level 2 (Datalink), but there are layer 3(Network) switches. The way that I remember the layers is Please (Physical) Do (Datalink) Not (Network) Throw (Transport) Sausage (Session) Pizza (Presentation) Away (Application).
I just only use the PDUs as a reference to the layers. Data, Segments, Packets, Frames, Bits I list that in the order of the OSI model from 7-1 Layer 7-6 Data Layer 4 Segments Layer 3 Packets Layer 2 Frames Layer 1 Bits Then all it is is just figuring out what devices handles those PDUs

Layer 3 (Network): In the OSI model, the network layer handles logical addressing, routing, and the creation and management of packets. The IP header is a crucial part of the network layer in the OSI model.
