N10-008 Exam - Question 810

A network administrator connects two unmanaged switches together with a straight-through Ethernet cable. The administrator reviews the connection and notices that the uplinks are not on. Which of the following options offers the best solution for the issue?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: E

When connecting two similar devices, such as two switches, a crossover cable is typically used to facilitate proper communication between the devices. A straight-through Ethernet cable, on the other hand, is used when connecting different types of devices, such as a switch and a PC. As a result, the best solution for the issue where the uplinks are not active is to use a crossover cable.

Crossover Cable - for similar devices ( switch to switch ) Straight-through Cable - for different device types ( switch to PC )

Awful question but I would agree with E only because it's really the only option. When they say "unmanaged switches" I imagine cheap 5-8 port switches you can buy off Amazon. If they were a little more specific describing the switch, I'd almost want to say D but "unmanaged" alludes to a plug and play switch which means no gui or cmd. So in conclusion It's not A Reboots are the answer to most real world problems. But not CompTIA C-D Again "unmanaged switch" Leaving E

Meant to say I would pick C if it was a managed switch Also, I have connected countless "unmanaged switches" using straight through cables.

What I don't understand with this question is... doesn't MDIX take care of this issue? I still think E is the only one that makes the most sense since it's technically what you're suppose to use. But I thought MDIX takes care of this kind of thing.
