Question 342

A technician receives a help desk ticket from a user who is unable to update a phone. The technician investigates the issue and notices the following error message: Insufficient storage space. While analyzing the phone, the technician does not discover any third-party applications or photos. Which of the following is the best way to resolve the issue?

    Correct Answer: D

The best way to resolve the issue is to move factory applications to external memory. This approach frees up the internal storage space without deleting any important factory-installed applications. It is a practical solution to resolve the 'Insufficient storage space' error and allow the phone to update successfully, especially since the technician did not find any third-party applications or photos to delete.

some phone comes with unnecessary apps out of the box hence they call them "bloatware". Samsung Galaxy phones are well-known for this.

According to CompTIA best practices, the most appropriate way to resolve the issue of "Insufficient storage space" on the phone, especially if there are no third-party applications or photos consuming storage, is: C. Allocate more space by removing factory applications. Factory applications, also known as bloatware, often come pre-installed on devices and can consume a significant amount of storage space. Removing unnecessary factory applications that the user does not use can free up space on the device, allowing for updates and the installation of new applications. This solution addresses the issue by optimizing the use of available storage without the need for hardware upgrades or device replacements.

Have you ever seen anybody saving “Time and Date application” on USB? Don’t think so! It’s C.

I’m wrong, It’s D.

MikeNY85Option: C

I did chose D in the beginning but I researched the fact that you can transfer factory applications to an external memory. In fact, this works well with Android phones but, not with iPhones. Hence, option C fits best since option D doesn't apply to ally kinds of phones.

Bloatware, also called “junkware,” is, by definition, unnecessary. It's safe and recommended to remove bloatware regularly — as long as you use a trusted tool like Avast Cleanup that makes sure you remove the junk while protecting all the software you actually need. Bloatware is unwanted and potentially harmful software preloaded onto new devices. Also known as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs), bloatware is often preinstalled by vendors, manufacturers, or carriers as a form of marketing to put services directly in front of consumers.

Can someone please explain the term "Factory Applications" Google treats it as something else. If its bloatware uninstall it. If it important application and your phone allows external memory that is an option. (most phones I know in use do not allow external memory anymore) IS this phone so old that it literally can't handle just the Phone OS and company software as it appears nothing else has been installed on it perhaps its time to replace the phone. I cannot answer this question as i find the data too limited.

Overall, for most casual smartphone users 64GB phone memory is enough, although many people prefer to choose between 128GB and 256GB. Those who use their mobile phone to the absolute maximum should consider phones with storage of 512GB and 1TB to avoid running out of storage space and suffering with a slow phone speed

But that's buying a new phone, not upgrading the current storage on the old phone
