1Y0-204 Exam - Question 42

Scenario: A Citrix Administrator is in the process of migrating a Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops on-premises deployment to Citrix Cloud with an on-premises resource location. StoreFront and Citrix ADC machines are located on premises. The administrator notices that application enumeration is NOT occurring for resources managed by the Citrix Cloud Site.

What does the administrator need to change in order to get application enumeration working?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: C

In order to get application enumeration working in a Citrix Cloud environment with an on-premises resource location, the administrator needs to ensure that StoreFront servers are able to communicate properly with the Citrix Cloud Connectors. To achieve this, the Citrix Cloud Connectors must be added as XML servers to the existing StoreFront servers. The XML service is responsible for handling application and desktop resource enumeration, which includes processing user credentials and queries from StoreFront. This addition will ensure a proper communication flow between StoreFront and Citrix Cloud, enabling successful application enumeration.

A is correct

C is correct, because the question says enumeration is no working, not session launch. STA is not involved in enumeration.

I would say A is the correct answer, as the Citrix Cloud Connectors plays the role of DDCs

A is correct since you need to replace DDCs hostname with cloud connector's hostname

Doesn't answer C do the same?

C seems about right. You need to configure the XML traffic on the Cloud Connectors to the enumeration work. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/tech-zone/build/deployment-guides/cvads-migration.html#:~:text=trust%20the%20certificates.-,Enable%20TLS%20on%20Cloud%20Connectors%20to%20secure%20XML%20traffic,-Refer%20to%20the https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/tech-zone/build/deployment-guides/cvads-migration.html#:~:text=configured%20Workspace%20URL.-,User%20Access%20Layer%20%2D%20On%2Dpremises%20StoreFront%20and%20Gateway,-The%20StoreFront%20servers

A. Install a private server certificate on each StoreFront server and then add a new Internet Information Services (IIS) binding for HTTPS. Explanation: HTTPS (HTTP Secure) is a protocol for secure communication over the internet. By default, XML traffic between StoreFront and Delivery Controllers is unencrypted, and a potential attacker could intercept sensitive information. Therefore, to secure XML traffic, the Citrix Administrator should install a private server certificate on each StoreFront server and add a new Internet Information Services (IIS) binding for HTTPS. This will enable the communication between the StoreFront and Delivery Controllers to be encrypted using SSL/TLS. Option B is incorrect because installing a private server certificate on the Delivery Controllers and binding them to port 443 would not encrypt the XML traffic between StoreFront and the Delivery Controllers.

I would go for A. According to this Citrix document Citrix cloud automatically detects de xml services: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-workspace/optimize-cvad/add-on-premises-site.html#to-add-an-xml-server

Since scenario presents ADC and Storefront, it cannot be only C. Needs to configure/replace old DDCs with new Connectors for ADC/Gateway part of the configuration

Clearly the answer is C although I have to wonder if the term "xml server" isn't a throwback to Web Interface days. A is a non-starter as STA settings on the ADC have absolutely nothing to do with enumeration. The other two are just non-sense for the stated issue.

If either on-premises StoreFront or Citrix ADCs are to be used after migration, then certificates are needed on the Cloud Connectors. The Cloud Connector runs the XML and the STA services on port 80 by default as these communications are typically INTERNAL. To configure encryption for these traffic types, certificates must be deployed on the Cloud Connectors and these two services must be bound to those certificates. https://community.citrix.com/tech-zone/build/deployment-guides/cvads-migration/

It can be also C.. The XML Service is used for application and desktop resource enumeration including handling user name and password data from StoreFront to Cloud Connectors, therefore, it must be encrypted.

This question was on the exam today. I'm not sure if the answer is correct but I answered C. The questions states that they are using Storefront on-prem, so wy would we need to add the CC to the Gateway? So answer A seems not correct

Application enumeration is done by the XML service. The Secure Ticket Authority (STA) has nothing to do with enumeration.
