Question 133

Scenario: A Citrix Administrator maintains a Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Site with a number of network print servers being used for all users. Currently, the print serves use native Windows drivers. No client printers are being used. New company guidelines require a reduction in the number of native drivers being used within the Site infrastructure.

Which step can the administrator take to meet the new company guidelines?

    Correct Answer: D

To reduce the number of native drivers being used within the Site infrastructure, the Citrix Administrator should install the Universal Print Server on all print servers and update the Universal printer driver usage policy setting. This approach centralizes print management and ensures the environment prioritizes the use of the universal printer driver, which minimizes the dependency on native Windows drivers.

Discussion
CoralonOption: C

You would never install the Universal Print Server on all the servers.. You normally only have 1 Universal Print Server; that immediately knocks out B & D. The default policy is to only use the Universal Driver if the Native driver is not available, so that knocks out A, leaving C. Setting up a generic Printer and changing the autocreate policy.

majkelOption: D

D is correct. UPS is for nerwork peinters and is installed on print servers. Along with UPS a UPD has to be installed. Answer D is missing a word "driver" as someone noticed already

cheechOption: C

looking at this again, problem with D is that there is no "Universal printer usage policy", there is a "Auto-create generic universal printer policy " that works with the related "Universal printer driver usage" policy. Thinking about this it would seem that C is correct because you would create the U Generic printer, enable it and then set the policy to use the Citrix UPD as preferred driver.

PuckshmuckerOption: D

D. Install the Universal Print Server on all print servers in the Site and update the Universal printer driver usage policy setting. By installing the Universal Print Server on all print servers, the administrator can centralize print management and reduce the dependency on native Windows drivers. Additionally, updating the Universal printer driver usage policy setting ensures that the Citrix environment prioritizes the use of the universal printer driver, further reducing the need for native drivers. Option A (Enable the Citrix Universal Print Driver) and Option C (Configure the Citrix Universal Generic Printer) are not sufficient on their own to reduce the number of native drivers being used. They may be part of the overall solution, but they do not address the requirement directly. Option B (Install the Universal Print Server on all print servers) aligns with the requirement, but it is necessary to update the Universal printer driver usage policy setting to ensure the proper utilization of the Universal Print Server.

cris66Option: D

Citrix docs says "install the UpsServer component on your print servers" so they think you can install it on all your print servers. In option C the idea of the Citrix Universal Generic Printer is that you disable Auto-Creation and users print to this single printer which by default sends job to Default printer on the Windows client. It is possible to change this setting with a printer policy called "Universal printing preview preference" but that is not the policy mentioned in C. So i go for D. Default is only use Universal when driver not available so has to be changed to always use it. https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX106812/how-to-autocreate-the-generic-citrix-universal-printer-in-user-sessions

cris66

and in article it only says that you are going to print to client printers "The user can select the client printer to be used, similar to printing from any other local application.".

MjtsOption: D

I believe this is just typo but answer is D. Universal Generic Printe is for any client printer. Print servers are already in place so best is use Citrix universal print server then update the policy to use Universal Print driver.

Ex1LeeOption: C

I think the correct answer should be C. Check the following quote: No printer drivers are installed on Multi-session OS machines. Only the Citrix Universal printer driver is used. Fallback to native printing and the automatic installation of printer drivers are disabled. A policy is configured to auto-create all client printers for all users. Multi-session OS machines will directly connect to the print servers by default. The only configuration required is to enable the Universal Print Server components. Therefore the answer is C, they want to reduce native drivers on the site. Making sure they are all on the printserver is the correct way. For client printers they also use the driver. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/printing/printing-configuration-example.html

cheechOption: D

coming back to D on this. Maybe the answer is not correctly stated and missing the word 'Driver' from 'Universal printer usage policy'. should read 'Universal print driver usage policy'. If it had the word 'driver' added, it would be the best answer.

cheechOption: D

should be D.

ArtCOption: D

I think its D

Lance_DOption: C

ArtC - i think you might be correct. I am not sure how they chose C option.
