Question 8

Scenario: A Citrix Administrator configured Citrix ADC load balancing to send requests to one of three identical backend servers. Each server handles multiple protocols, and load balancing is set up in round-robin mode. The current load-balancing setup on the Citrix ADC is:

✑ One load-balancing vServer with one externally accessible VIP

✑ One service created for each protocol type

✑ One server entity for each backend resource

During business hours, the administrator wants to make changes to one backend server without affecting the other servers.

What is the most efficient way for the administrator to ensure that all traffic is routed away from the server without impeding responses from other resources?

    Correct Answer: A

To ensure that all traffic is routed away from the server without affecting other servers during business hours, the administrator should disable the backend service entity targeted for change. This approach is efficient because it specifically targets the service associated with the server that needs maintenance without disrupting the entire server entity or the load-balancing virtual server. This allows other protocols and services to continue operating on the unaffected servers.

Discussion
foreigner78Option: B

B. Why will you unbind when you can disable just the server you need to. that is the most efficient way

HappimanOption: D

Answer is D:

Steve122Option: B

B (most efficient how the q asked) disable server <name> <delay> D incorrect You cannot bind 'server' to vserver just service!

ImMaaxOption: D

It's D since there is one vServer you will disable all of them, you got to disable individual server object or service

Citrix_Guru

Both B and D will work. They are asking for "most efficient way", so now its matter of interpretation what they mean by this. I personally would go for B.

Solo514

When I do such job I used B as it's the quickest way (just one click to enable/disable the server)

eternityone

I think it`s B! Cause you can only bind/unbind a Service/ServiceGroup to a LB vServer D is not possible,

SD_Dude

Answer is D. If you disable only service, other services (protocols) will still be load balanced to the target server. Disabling the server object will disable ALL services pointing to target server… therefore it’s the “most efficient”.
