Question 85

Scenario: A Citrix Engineer recently took over a multi-zone environment with one Primary zone in New York and two Secondary zones in San Francisco and

Orlando respectively. The New York zone has two Delivery Controllers, San Francisco has one Delivery Controller, and the Orlando zone has two Delivery

Controllers. The engineer received alerts that the Orlando zone Delivery Controllers were down.

Where will the Orlando zone Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) machines register?

    Correct Answer: B

In a Citrix multi-zone environment, a Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) in a satellite (secondary) zone will register with a local Delivery Controller if one is available. If no local Delivery Controllers are available, as is the case when the Orlando Delivery Controllers are down, the VDA will register with a Delivery Controller in the primary zone. Since New York is the primary zone, the Orlando VDA machines will register with the New York Delivery Controllers.

The answer is B https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/xenapp-and-xendesktop/7-15-ltsr/manage-deployment/zones.html A VDA in a satellite zone registers with a local Controller, if possible. (This is considered the preferred Controller.) If no local Controllers are available (for example, because the local Controllers cannot accept more VDA registrations or the local Controllers have failed), the VDA will attempt to register with a Controller in the primary zone. In this case, the VDA stays registered in the primary zone, even if a Controller in satellite zone becomes available again. A VDA in a satellite zone will never attempt to register with a Controller in another satellite zone.

I am finding a lot of comments on the 1Y0-312 questions to disagree with what the site has as the correct answer. Does anyone else find this to be very confusing?

Yes it's B for sure!

RDIOOption: B

If the DC in the satellite zone fail, the VDAs will always failover to the primary zone DC and register there. Who is giving these supposed answers ? Jesus...

AdilBajwaOption: B

Satellite zones dont communicate to other satellite zone, as Orlando is totally down where 2 DDCs are down, only it can reach and register to primary zone.

EUC_PROOption: B

B. As the satellite zone can register with the primary zone, if no local delivery controllers are available.
