Which action implements physical access control as part of the security program of an organization?
Which action implements physical access control as part of the security program of an organization?
Physical access control involves measures that ensure only authorized individuals can physically access certain areas or equipment. Setting up IP cameras to monitor key infrastructure directly implements physical access control by allowing the organization to monitor and possibly restrict physical access to key areas, thereby deterring unauthorized entry. Configuring a password for the console port, while important, is a measure for securing device access rather than controlling physical access to the infrastructure.
A is the only answer that lists a 'Physical' measure to counter-act 'Physical' security vulnerabilities. Make all the passwords you want on all your console ports, but if someone who shouldn't have access gets to one your 'Physical' security has already failed.
B Is the answer: A camera will not 'Physical' measure to counter-act 'Physical' security vulnerabilities but pass-wording the console port will stop the intruder. You have to physical present for console port password to counter the act.
When you have physical access to a console port, a camera won't tap you on the shoulder and prevent you from accessing it, a console password however will.
Password can't prevent from PHYSICAL access to a port as well :)
Not sure why so many people chose a wrong answer for this kind of simple question. The answer is A
"Video surveillance serves two primary purposes. Real-time CCTV monitoring as a detection control may allow a smaller number of security personnel to monitor a much larger area than could be effectively monitored directly. This allows a security force of the same size to secure a much larger area or to secure a smaller area in more detail or with fewer people." Cisco CCNA in 60 Days - Paul Browning (under section heading "Physical Security")
Anyone who says B is the answer does not understand Cisco Physical security solutions. the three fold approach of Threat Detection, Threat Monitoring, and Threat Response. IP Cameras are the first action line under the Threat Detection pilar. Additionally continued surveillance via CCTV provided by all camera types including IP cameras is a point from the second pilar Threat Monitoring. Furthermore, as you will see all three B, C, & D are all the same answer only A provides a true Physical Security measure. Take apart A: IP Cam and Infrastructure = physical and physical Take apart B: Passwords and ports = Software and physical Take apart C: syslogs and location = Software and physical Take apart D: passwords and devices = Software and physical
it could be B if you hired a security officer to stand next to switch, and you gotta tell him the the secret word of the day hhhhhhhh. A
You made me laugh in the midst of my boring study session hahahah
it cant be B because physical access control prevents unauthorised people physical access to network gear. an attacker that manages to plug a cable into the console port has already breached the physical security measures, even if there is a console password configured on a device
'Physical access control is a type of security system that authorizes or prevents access to physical space. Physical access control ensures that only authorized people can enter a building or a specific area. Physical access control can use physical barriers such as locks, turnstiles, fences, or technological devices such as authentication cards, keypads, biometrics. Among the four actions presented in the question, the one that implements physical access control is the following: A. setting up IP cameras to monitor key infrastructure’
I believe it's A. Options B & C are almost the same since we are using passwords to access the network devices. Using passwords or any authentication procedure is part of the logical Access control, not the Physical one. https://www.avigilon.com/blog/physical-access-control
Configuring a password for the console port is related to device access security, not physical access control.
A - Other answers are not Physical access control
Physical access control: Infrastructure locations, such as network closets and data centers, should remain securely locked. Badge access to sensitive locations is a scalable solution, offering an audit trail of identities and timestamps when access is granted. Administrators can control access on a granular basis and quickly remove access when an employee is dismissed. (Official-Cert-Guide-Volume-2)
A is not correct, this will not "stop" physical activity, just monitor B is correct. It stops physical entry into the systems via the console port
it´s A
physical access here means (personal access)

Answer is B, A is a Monitoring. not a Physical access control.
A is not access control.
