How is the software managed in Cisco SD-WAN?
In Cisco SD-WAN, software images must be uploaded to vManage through HTTP or FTP. This is the method used to manage software in the SD-WAN environment, specifically for transferring and storing software images on the vManage system.

Tech tip: Once upgraded, It is not possible to downgrade vManage to a lower major release. For example, if you are running an 18.3.x release, you cannot downgrade to an 18.2,x or lower release. While you can install a lower code version onto the vManage server, you will not be able to activate it. https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/solutions/CVD/SDWAN/SD-WAN-End-to-End-Deployment-Guide.pdf

In Cisco SD-WAN, vManage is responsible for managing and distributing software images to all the SD-WAN components (vEdge/cEdge, vSmart, vBond, etc.). • Software images are uploaded to vManage via HTTP or FTP, and then vManage handles the distribution to other devices. • Option A is incorrect: You can upgrade devices independently; you don’t have to include vManage, vBond, and vSmart all at once. • Option B is incorrect: Downgrades are possible, though not typically recommended and should be handled carefully. • Option D is misleading: VPN 0 is used for transport, but image uploads are done via HTTP/FTP directly to vManage’s GUI or API.
