ENSDWI Exam - Question 128

In a customer retail network with multiple data centers, what does the network administrator use to create a regional hub topology?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: D

In a customer retail network with multiple data centers, the network administrator uses vManage to create a regional hub topology. vManage serves as the central configuration and management interface. While vSmart enforces the policies, the initial creation and management of those policies are done on vManage, which then pushes the configurations to vSmart for implementation.

No policy config on vSmart. Policies are configured on vManage!

vManage has the user interface and accepts the config, but pushes it to vSmart. Therefore the policy is in the vSmart configuration, and surely that is what the question refers to, or the answer to everything would always be vManage, the GUI where everything is configured.

Actually it could go either way, depending on how they mean their wording. They could be referring to the admin using vManage as the config GUI, or they could mean using a policy which resides on vSmart.

Kind of an awkward question since you can create the centralized control policy on vmanage or vsmart. I still think the correct answer is vsmart since its a centralized control policy being created.

Vsmat enforce policies (make it happened, send ot to the edges) the vmanage is the one creating policies, is the one with the data base, and send it to vsmart for the further distrubution to the right devices

Centralized policies are configured on vManage and pushed down to vSmart. A centralized control (topology) policy would achieve this, and since the question asks what the admin would use to create the topology, it should be D.

The key word here is "USE". We as engineers dont use control policy on vSmart. We can only use vManage to control policies. vManage can then push said policies to vSmart.

I think the answer is C. Source (you can also go to the section on control polices and it's all about vSmart too: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/sdwan/configuration/policies/vedge/policies-book/policy-basics-CLIs.html

Also you can google: "where do you create hub and spoke topology cisco sdwan" and the PDF document "Cisco SD-WAN Policy Guide Hub & Spoke Topology" will come up where it says "Management plane (vManage): Responsible for central configuration and monitoring. Control plane (vSmart): Builds and maintains the network topology and makes decisions on where traffic flows."

Exactly, the question is "what does the network administrator use to create a regional hub topology?" and here is your answer vManage is responsible for central Configuration D is correct answer

I'll go wih D. You do the configuration on the vManage which then pushes it to vSmart

COnfiguration done on vmanage Mesh In the Add Topology drop-down, select Mesh. Enter a name for the mesh region policy component. Enter a description for the mesh region policy component. In the VPN List field, select the VPN list for the policy. Click New Mesh Region. In the Mesh Region Name field, enter a name for the individual mesh region. In the Site List field, select one or more sites to include in the mesh region. Click Add. Repeat these steps to add more mesh regions to the policy. Click Save Mesh Topology.

All configuration is via vmanage but the question is about where the policy exists. So first you need to understand which pilocy should be used to have regional hub topology which is Centralized Policy and it is on vsmart. In case of Localized Policy , it is done through template or CLI which mostly vmanage is responsible. Centralized Policy The centralized control policy configuration itself remains on the Cisco SD-WAN Controller and is never pushed to local devices. Localized Policy Localized policy refers to a policy that is provisioned locally through the CLI on the Cisco IOS XE Catalyst SD-WAN devices, or through a Cisco SD-WAN Manager device template.

Q is what does the Admin use... He uses vManage to create the policy.
