Question 238

Refer to the exhibit. A network engineer notices PE-21 convergence degradation due to the growing LSDB size of Level 2 areas in the network. The engineer decides to migrate router PE-21 from an inter-area design to an intra-area implementation. Inter-area routing must be accomplished via an ATT-bit set by the

Level 1/Level 2 router. Which configuration must the engineer implement on PE-21 to complete the migration?

    Correct Answer: D

To migrate router PE-21 to an intra-area implementation while ensuring inter-area routing via the ATT-bit set by a Level 1/Level 2 router, you must reconfigure PE-21 to operate as a Level 1 router in the Level 1 area (49.5000). This involves removing the current NET associated with area 49.0200 and configuring a new NET for area 49.5000. This ensures that inter-area routing is achieved through an ATT-bit set by other Level 1/Level 2 routers in area 49.5000.

Answer is D " In order to reach Level 2 area, L1L2 router sets the Attach bit in Level1 LSP. Level1 router installs the default route in routing table, this route would point towards L1L2 router." https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/ip-routing/200472-Configure-the-Attach-bit-set.html

After another look, I'm not sure about this?

D is correct. Router has to be changed to L1 and the net changed to area 49.5000... AFTER removing the old net

Agree, but the cloud underneath PE-21 is shown as L2. Since PE21 is now changed to L1 with a different area, it wont connect to its own cloud. Then the Cloud has to change to L1 also. This is ok, but it would be a real pain for some poor network administrator!

I should have said the cloud needs to change to L1/L2 so that it can connect to PE-21, or else PE-21 should have been left as L1/L2
