Question 32

Refer to the exhibit. A network engineer applied configuration on R5 to summarize all OSPF routes, but R4 is still receiving specific routes from R5. The engineer has confirmed that both R5 and R4 routers are configured with correct summarization configuration, but R5 is not sending the summary routes. What action must the engineer take to fix the problem?

    Correct Answer: D

In OSPF, summarization of routes is typically performed on Area Border Routers (ABRs). Since R4 and R5 are in the same area (Area 2), they maintain the same link-state database, and R5 cannot perform summarization effectively. By moving R4 and R5 into separate areas, R5 would become an ABR. This would enable R5 to summarize routes and send only the summary routes to R4. Therefore, the appropriate action to fix the problem is to move R4 and R5 into separate areas, making R5 an ABR.

Discussion
SeeleOption: D

Moving R4 and R5 to separate Areas makes R5 an ABR and the summarization configured in it will work. Answer is D

Summarization should be configured on R3. All answers are wrong.

You can only do summarization of Internal routes in OSPF on the ABR. I don't think any of these options works.

Yes and thats why moving R4 and R5 to different areas would work, making R5 an ABR and able to send summary route towards R4.
