Replacing a raw material in a manufacturing process with an alternate material that reduces emissions is an example of using life cycle assessment (LCA). An LCA is a systematic method for evaluating the environmental impacts associated with all the stages of a product's life, from raw material extraction through processing, manufacturing, distribution, use, and disposal. It helps identify opportunities to improve environmental performance by considering the entire life cycle, hence reducing emissions by using a more sustainable material.
I think that replacing a raw material with one that is more eco-friendly would fall under the GRI.
I think its D.
I got lost from reading your comments. each of you proposed different answer.
this should be A as it relates to sustainability
recycling is not introducing alternate material into the manufacturing process.... it could be extraction of certain items and transforming a product after traditional manufacturing. None of these answers make sense
One of the most common methodologies for quantifying sustainability is life cycle assessment (LCA). An LCA is a systematic analysis of environmental impact over the course of the entire life cycle of a product, material, process, or other measurable activity -copied from Google-RIT
"A life-cycle assessment (LCA) is a tool that can be used to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of a product, material, process, service or activity. It is a comprehensive method for assessing a range of environmental impacts—such as emission of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide), energy consumption, acidification, and wastes produced—across the full life cycle of a product system from raw material acquisition to manufacturing, through consumer use, until final disposal." https://csmathsg.com/course-content/week-8/section-8-4-life-cycle-assessment-for-supply-chain-management/
Reprocessing to salvage a defective item or part is Rework not Recycling
