Supply chain is broad term and it will not limited only to reducing Inventory levels but to take the COMPLETE SYSTEM APPROACH
Shouldn't reducing inventory levels be primary objective of a supply chain?
No because it is not a complete answer. You have to balance reducing inventory levels with having enough to meet demand (customer satisfaction). This requires taking a systems approach
