SOA-C02 Exam - Question 245

A SysOps administrator is optimizing the cost of a workload. The workload is running in multiple AWS Regions and is using AWS Lambda with Amazon EC2 On-Demand Instances for the computer. The overall usage is predictable. The amount of computer that is consumed in each Region varies, depending on the users' locations.

Which approach should the SysOps administrator use to optimize this workload?

Show Answer
Correct Answer: A

To optimize the cost of a workload running AWS Lambda and EC2 On-Demand Instances in multiple AWS Regions with predictable overall usage, the best approach is to purchase Compute Savings Plans based on the usage during the past 30 days. Compute Savings Plans provide flexibility as they can apply to AWS Lambda, AWS Fargate, and Amazon EC2, and they are not restricted by Region. This flexibility is crucial given the varying compute consumption in each Region based on users' locations.

I pick A, because can provide a saving plan for EC2 & Lambda. Also is the only global plan. Given that number of EC2s may vary overtime it’s definitely the right choice.

The computer Saving plan is the only one that applies to Lambda usage. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/savingsplans/latest/userguide/what-is-savings-plans.html

Typo - Computer should be Compute https://docs.aws.amazon.com/savingsplans/latest/userguide/what-is-savings-plans.html Compute savings plans offer greater flexibility as they have no regional restrictions, apply across broad compute types - lambda, fargate and EC2 https://docs.aws.amazon.com/savingsplans/latest/userguide/what-is-savings-plans.html
