It's not Snowball... Snowball doesn't meet their need to collect, format, and process the data at sea. It's possible there's a lot of data, which is where Snowball shines, but they didn't specifically state that. Storage Gateway utilizes local compute and cache (located on the ship) and transfers the data to the cloud when there's an internet connection. The answer is Storage Gateway. If you read the question they say there is intermittent or No internet connectivity in Ship - which means there is no reliable way to transfer data over a network here. In the other part of the question they mentioned "Process the data at Sea and move the data to AWS later" - which gives the clear picture that we need to transport offline data back to AWS. Also sensor data collected usually will be huge size like Terabytes or Petabytes hence Snowball could be the best possible answer.
